Real Answers to Frequently Asked Questions About Massage
Unsure if you can talk, fall asleep, or take a break during your massage? You’re not the only one! We’re answering the FAQs to help you feel more at ease.
Massage is one of the most relaxing forms of care we offer and is designed to be deeply restorative. It’s a chance to slow down, reconnect with your body, and let your nervous system reset. But if you’re new to massage or even if it’s just been a while, it’s completely normal to have questions. Some common ones we hear include:
• “Should I talk or stay quiet?”
• “Do I say something if the pressure isn’t quite right?”
• “Can I fall asleep?”
• “What happens if I need to pee?”
You’re not alone in wondering these things. At Resonance, we believe that you deserve to feel informed and comfortable before you even step into the treatment room. When your mind feels at ease, it’s natural for your body to follow.
We’ve put together answers to the most common questions our clients ask about the massage experience, so you can feel more confident and relaxed heading into your next appointment.
Is my session private?
Yes. Every massage takes place in a private treatment room. You’ll have full privacy throughout your session, and anything you share with your therapist stays between the two of you.
Is it okay to talk during the massage?
It’s entirely up to you! Some clients enjoy quiet conversation, while others prefer silence. There’s no right or wrong approach. Your therapist will always follow your lead and support the atmosphere that helps you feel most at ease.
What if I feel uncomfortable with the pressure?
Please don’t hesitate to let us know. Your comfort is essential, and massage works best when your body feels supported, not tense. Whether you’d like it lighter or deeper, your therapist can easily adjust the pressure and wants to know what feels best for you.
Can I fall asleep?
Absolutely! Many clients fall asleep during a massage. It’s often a sign that your nervous system is settling, and your body is receiving exactly what it needs. If you feel like you might drift off, let it happen.
What if I need to use the restroom?
You’re welcome to pause your session at any time, just let your therapist know. We have robes available in every treatment room, so you can step away comfortably and return when you’re ready.
Should I remove my jewelry?
If you feel comfortable taking your jewelry off, removing it can give your therapist better access during your massage. However, removing it or not is completely your choice. We can easily work around anything you’d prefer to leave on.
Still have questions?
You are always welcome to ask questions, whether it’s before your session, during your massage, or afterward. If something is on your mind, we want to hear it. Your comfort matters, and open communication is one of the ways we help support that.
